These are the true viper form of the eyelashes. Some say they dont become as nice as the Bothriechis. Yet I think they have a beauty of their own. While these are not as difficult as A. hispida, they are not for novice keepers. There have been very few true captive breedings of this species. Also you should be aware that there is no antivenom proven effective for this species. |
| Hairy Bush
Viper
Atheris hispida
The punk rockers of the snake world. Their spiked hair makes them unique. This species is highly adored in the community and is a species high on everyones wish list. However this is an extremely difficult snake to keep in captivity. Many have tried and failed, even the best keepers in the world have difficult with this species including myself. Only time will tell if i will be able to find their secret and be successful with them. Also you should be aware that there is no antivenom proven effective for this species. |
| Palm Eyelash
Pitviper
Bothriechis schlegleii
Unarguably one of the most beautiful venomous snakes in the world. Eyelash pitvipers have a wide variety of colors and patterns. This little arboreal is a favorite among keepers all over the world. While babies of this species can be very difficult to get going, adults are very rewarding. These makes some of the best display venomous snakes you can buy. Set up a terrarium and show off yours. |
